Florida Atlantic Alumni and Community Engagement received a generous gift from David and Brenda Haverstick to create an endowed scholarship fund in honor of their son Andrew, a Florida Atlantic alumnus who passed away in 2023.
The Andrew Haverstick ’10 Endowed Scholarship Fund will provide scholarship support to undergraduate students who are actively engaged in the Florida Atlantic community, demonstrating school pride and spirit.
A class of 2010 graduate, Andrew is remembered as a 20-plus-year season ticket holder whose passion for Florida Atlantic knew no bounds. Through years of unwavering support as a student and an alumnus, Andrew cheered, always believing in the spirit of the Owls.
His dedication to Florida Atlantic helped to build a culture of school spirit rooted in pride and tradition that the Florida Atlantic Student Alumni Association continues to build every day. The Student Alumni Association works to enhance the Florida Atlantic experience by uniting students, alumni, and the Owl community through tradition, engagement and leadership. Andrew’s legacy lives on in every cheer that echoes through the student section and in every alumnus who proudly supports the Owls.
In recognition of Andrew’s legacy and love for Florida Atlantic, the Student Alumni Association room inside of the Marleen and Harold Forkas Alumni Center has been named the “Andrew Haverstick ’10 Student Alumni Association Room.”
“We are deeply honored to name the Student Alumni Association Room after Andrew, whose unwavering spirit and pride in Florida Atlantic Athletics truly exemplifies what it means to be an Owl,” said Katie Burke, Ph.D., ’08, ’10, ’15, ’17, assistant vice president of alumni and community engagement.
