How about our Owls?
While Saturday’s game didn’t end the way we all hoped, we’re so incredibly proud of everything our men’s basketball team accomplished during this magical run.
And, we’re equally proud of the way Owl Nation showed up in force to support Florida Atlantic.
Over the past month, we’ve seen unbelievable engagement and passion from our alumni base as we all united together in support of our team.
For Florida Atlantic’s NCAA Tournament first-round game, we started with two local watch parties. By Saturday’s Final Four contest, we were up to 22 events in Florida, with every venue packed to capacity with Owl fans. Thanks in part to our watch parties, one of those establishments, Biergarten in Boca Raton, had their best month in 12 years, the owner said during a local media interview.
There was so much excitement around FAU that out-of-state alums were reaching out to host their own events, which led to watch parties in eight different states, including Wisconsin, Utah, and New Jersey.
On Saturday, we had more than 1,000 FAU fans descend upon Houston for our pregame event, transforming a midtown bar in Texas into Boca Raton West.
For everyone who attended one our events, we’ll be reaching out to you later this week with more direct follow-up.
From alums, to students, to former athletes, to potential future Owls, we, as an FAU community, came together in a special way that shows you how deep our love runs for this university. If you ever had doubts about whether that passion was there from this alumni base, those were extinguished this past month. Now, we keep it going.
We announced Florida Atlantic’s presence in a major way, and Owl Nation is here to stay.
As an Alumni Association, we’re not letting this just be a blip on the radar. We plan on building from March Madness and continuing to spark your passion. Over the past month, we’ve had a spike in new membership, with more than 390 alums joining the Alumni Association. As a result of the enormous support of our Owls, we are extending our Alumni Association membership special until Sunday, April 9.

While basketball season is over, we have so much more to come, including events, watch parties, networks, and more.
